Placebo Touch.

Placebo Touch.
By L.M.Robbins.
We still share:
Our bed, bodies and the gaps between.
Us.
The way we were.
Are?
Hobbling, propping-up each other.
Hamstrung, we limp on past the Crossroads.
To resurrect tired spirits resting,
Down Memory Lane.
A chronic, needy condition,
That we are too cowardly to explain.
Still, tactile fingertips Taser jaded Love.
It dulls the familiar.
As it punctures the thinnest of thin skin.
Shocking the boredom briefly.
We share the buzz and the warmth,
Of this slim, tiny win.
With fixed ideology,
Religiously intransigent we have become.
Braced like steel-scaffold,
Stiffened by our tradition.
Complicit, we lost the War.
Which was worth fighting for;
Love and Loveβs Condition.
Now skeletal after years of starvation.
To raise a loving, knowing smile,
Is a cause for a standing ovation.
