Poem for 2021

Is Britain crumbling? Is she frail?
In years to come we will tell this tale,
How our streets were empty, our shelves were bare,
We missed our loved ones, those who care,
There was a killer on the loose or somewhere about,
You must stay at home,do not go out,
It came from China and travelled the globe,
Covered our nation like a deathly robe,
Our minds filled with terror, our hearts with fear,
We watched our T.Vs and waited to hear,
You can't go to work, everywhere must close,
What happens now we can only suppose,
Hospitals filled up with death on the rise,
It would take anyone of us just by surprise,
A cough, an ache, a sore throat a temperature too,
Some compared to it the plague, some the Spanish flu,
They panicked and bought all the shops stock,
Then stayed in the house just watching the clock,
On the upside the petrol was cheap,
But with nowhere to go the future looked bleak,
But at the end of the darkest of tunnels we all saw the light,
We got through those tough times that gave such a fright,
Lockdown became a memory as we cheered and danced in the street,
Britain was great again the crisis was beat!

Hi Ben. Thank you for capturing the lockdown in the UK so nicely and descriptively in your words. I so enjoyed reading this and it was brilliantly versed. Sssooo pinned for my later read when the time has passed. Px
Great write Ben, just about sums it all up ?
