Poplar hawk moths 🪰

Moths flickered in a frenzy beside a lantern light
Madly marauding in multitudes, with all of their menacing might
Underneath that big old harvest moon that shone so bright
Wow millions of poplar hawk moths swarmed, on that particular Autumnal night..
And she was thankful that she was sat in her stationary car
Watching this mayhem of Mother Nature phenomenon from afar
Coz the sheer spectacle of a sight was so bizarre
It resembled an army of slaughtering soldiers, ferociously fighting on the frontline at war..
Darting, diving..desperately driving
Zig zagging, zooming, controlling, conniving
An infestation of insects that was absolutely thriving
A natural force of nature that was so obviously surviving..

Jill your pen is on fire my friend. Once again you have delved deep. I loved how the imagery of those moths took the reader to think of war and then the power of nature, which will always be greater than man
