‘Poppy day’
November the eleventh
Amidst the poignant pretty poppies mournful melancholy memories fly by...
Beyond those bygone days of bloody battle scenes lost sacred souls sadly lie..
Serving one’s gracious Queen and country fighting betwixt such struggled strife..
Alas too many of our heroic heroes succumbed to war and lost their life
Today we salute our brave lost soldiers wearing those pretty poppies with plume and pride
In appreciation and reverential respect for our courageous lads who sadly died
Gone yet not forgotten on an autumnal commemorative ‘Poppy day’ those cherished memoirs of bloody battles fought for freedom from our historic diaries dismay
Rest in peace our woeful warriors your torment in the trenches was not in vain
You walked our wonderful world at wartime whence gallant conquerers were bloody slain
