Portraits

tears drop

paint splatters

loneliness spreads

and the heart break magnifies

she loves him

although hes  been gone for awhile

3 years past

paying his phone bill

to hear his voice

the heart shaped locket from him

she received on her 18th birthday

his face appears

only in portraits

no longer existing

but forever in her memory

he died for the country

and fought for her freedom

but she told him at the grave

she wishes she could have protected him
