Portraits

tears dropĀ

paint splattersĀ

loneliness spreadsĀ

and the heart break magnifies

she loves himĀ

although hes Ā been gone for awhileĀ

3 years past

paying his phone bill

to hear his voiceĀ

the heart shaped locket from himĀ

she received on her 18th birthday

his face appears

only in portraits

no longer existing

but forever in her memoryĀ

he died for the country

and fought for her freedom

but she told him at the grave

she wishes she could have protected himĀ Ā Ā
