Prescription drugs restraints

Same rule for us all? Really?

Prescription drug restraints!....

So many people,
all around,
Mistreating meds,
now underground.
I don't understand though,
my tolerance sky high,
Still above ground,
ain't ready to die.

Told a certain dose will kill me,
they say,
But after 24 years,
I know my way.
Brain still straight,
after ten times the dose,
Mind still exploring,
I ain't no ghost.

Doctors don't get it,
different peeps,
different needs,
Different tolerances,
like different seeds.
Take a joint,
first time blows your mind,
Next day three,
chasing that high you can't find.

Tolerance break,
rewind the clock,
But what if you're on opiates,
round the clock?
Break a leg,
what's the dose for you?
Morphine,
Oramorph,
what's the truth?

Standard dose,
5mg,
10ml,
every four,
But what if you need more,
like 30 or more?
Denied that dose,
is it human rights?
Doctors should know,
it's simple insight.

Minor pain,
major pain,
same dose they give,
Surely it should depend on the pain you live.
Within each person's limits,
find the right way,
Not just presume,
listen to what we say.

Our pain,
our lives,
in their hands,
Doctor's notes,
ain't that the plan?
Unless we're unstable,
or using for fun,
Why would we lie,
just want pain gone.

So if we know our limits,
leave us be,
We ain't addicts,
just want to be free.
Prescription drugs,
it's a complex game,
But treat us right,
don't blight our name.
