Pretty Girl

What is pretty?

I mean, my friends tell me that it's when your eyebrows are on fleek,
or when your eye colour is unique.
When your nose is perfectly shapen,
or when your legs look like heaven.

I mean, society tells me it's when your hips are big but no wider than your shoulders.
When you have a small waist and your tummy is so small that you can't even eat, because if you do, you'll apparently look older.

I mean, I thought that pretty was you and me and everybody else,
because we all have different bodies which should just be judged on their health.

I thought I was pretty, thought you were too.
Until I got some organs taken out so my tummy was flat,
and my nose got operated on to look more narrow.
Everbody told me that the operations should stop but I just replied with 'no'.

There are people in the world who still tell me I'm not pretty,
and I realised too late, that the pretty one,
was me.
