Process Work

Process Work

Still in shock
Slowly taking stock
Remember the stages of grief?
Yeah, I am expecting that

Jesus said, "Do not store up treasures on earth that moth and rust destroy. . . He who seeks to preserve his life will lose it; he who loses his life for my sake will gain it."

Meet my neighbour

[Drafting up a list of all the things he still demands in this life in a spirit of 'name it and claim it']

I.
Denying that our economy is dying,
"She'll be right mate. It's not so bad."
Let's think happy thoughts
Breathe in a smile, breathe out a giggle
"Problem? What problem? ...this is just a glitch." He turns to my wife...
"Could you please scratch my back;
it's starting to itch."

["Rrrrr that's a turn on, sexy you!"]

Jesus said, "The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, the whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness."

II.
Hurting. This ain't comfortable.
What have we done? How did it get to this?
"I'm sorry we're suffering Hon."
I should have saved our pennies,
or aimed for a higher job. What a fool I've been!
I wish that my brother-in-law wasn't such a smart-ass
He's always gloating cause he's 'living the dream'

[Former bread-winner starts to sob;
curses family and friends who are doing well]

Jesus said, "For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing is there."

III.
"Oh God! Can't we change this?
I promise I'll repent.
What can I do to evoke your favour
for a miracle heaven-sent?"
But why are we suffering anyway
Who'se fault is this
Did our scientists let us down
Why didn't our leaders see it coming
"God couldn't you control this,
turned the ship around?"
Probably you're uncaring and cunning
"Have you left us here to drown!"

[Starts beating his kids for wasting food and leaving the lights on]

Jesus said, "In your anger do not sin. Do not give the devil a foothold!"

IV.
I know. It's not you're fault;
I'm a bag among other scumbags.
We human's suck and aren't worth a thought.
We only make trash and light up fags
Destroying the air and water.
We've killed off countless species,
so why should we live happy ever after?
We deserve this to be frank
We've had it coming like an unwanted daughter
It took us all to tango and over withdraw from the bank

[Pops some anti-anxiety pills and opens the cheap lolly bags to have a binge]

Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you. My peace I give you. Do not be troubled or afraid."

V.
A little task and step by step
We'll make the most of each day
Look to the sky, there's beauty yet
And the children find ways to play
"I'll cook the mince, while the tubers you prep."
We can pretend it's ala carte
"Let's try to be happy, what do you say?"
I can't let the kids know it's our family pet,
I just don't have the heart

[After the somber meal, he buys and sells some drugs on the dark web. Then sleeps for three days and lets the whole household go to the pack]

Jesus says, "Whoever can be trusted with little can be trusted with much. And whoever is dishonest with very little will be dishonest with much."

VI.
Why is humanity suffering again?
Surely we effed-up
I can only imagine we've reaped what we'd sown
It's time we took measure and fessed up!
Well our greed has gotten the better of us
In the rat race we were neglecting our own
Money isn't every thing
and a quiet house, no matter how cozy or hi tech, isn't exactly a home
Certainly not a hostile toxic one
What was all that fuss?
It's kind of good taking things more slow
I kind of like this new status quo and making money this new way, who's to know?

["I'm actually pretty resilient and don't need your help." He says, slamming the door in the face of a welfare group offering assistance.]

James says about Jesus, "Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up."

VII.
I guess it's fair what we're going through
And we're in it all together
We'll just have to find new legit work to do
and hope for better weather
"O God, we're sorry we blamed you,
please help us make it better!"
I am sure He will hear my prayer
now that we've calmed down and are listening
and bring us closer to forever
through some other form of blessing

Jesus says, "My grace is sufficient for you. For my power is made perfect in weakness."
