Puppy Hate

Puppy Hate

Why do you do this evil to me,
leaving me chained to a tree?
In burning heat
and icy sleet
you leave me to suffer alone.

We once were friends you and I
in the time before you made me cry.
You held me close as if you cared
and into my puppy eyes you stared.
Those were the days of our puppy love.

But puppy love has died too fast
as your caresses are a thing of the past.
Our happy walks have become a tortuous drag
and I to you an unwanted bag
as now you hate me with all of your heart.

Caring strokes now are vicious kicks
even though I still greet you with puppy licks.
Heartfelt songs are hateful words
and happy baths dirty rugs.
This is the end of our time of love.

Now as I lay starving to death
and I take my last dying breath
I pray to God wishing we had never met
and that your cruelty you'll never forget.
You who has taken my animal soul.
