Just a moment please I will put you through 
I have Mr Jenkins on line two
Looking at the clock where has the time gone 
One moment please I have Mrs Roberts on line one

No time for coffee breaks for poor old me 
Mrs Watts is calling she's on line three
It's not easy being a busy switchboard operator
You have to forget about your lunch and have it later

At long last my day is now over and done 
Time for some enjoyment and have some fun
I will go to the pub and sink a few beers 
The noise of the telephone still ringing in my ears
