Poem -

Rafah

Tents burning alive at night,
an ocean of comets
and stars holding their self-destruction,
to shelter, to shield against
the Israeli rockets dispatching death,
claiming lives aloof,
cowardly at night,
burning Rafah alive.
Pulsating hatred,
your promises are crimes,
a genocide performed without masks.
The formidable hunger of the killer
cannot be satisfied,
no Palestinian skin will cool
in the fields or groves,
no Mediterranean breeze will soothe
the scorched tents,
gathering by day and vanishing
by night.
No one is there,
drench the fire,
douse the flames,
suffocate,
drown them,
strangle the fire,
the water from Tel Aviv
is poison.

Name one child,
name a woman,
an address,
a corner shop’s owner

The child is outside the tent
without a face,
the Palestinian woman is inside,
holding her lungs tightly.

The Israeli army marches into Rafah
like an army of tin soldiers.
Damn you!
