In a national park in Uganda was a friendly gorilla 
Whose life was cut short by a savage killer 
How upsetting and sad this true story is to be
For Rafiki was a friend both to you and to me

He was a popular attraction for more than a decade
Taken out by a spear is how he died I'm afraid 
Why should a human being do such a thing ? 
When sadness is the only outcome it can bring

The killer now will spend eleven years in jail
Don't get me started on those who hunt the whale
Rafiki for those who don't know is Swahili for friend
What a tragedy this story worldwide will send
