Rant

Fairy tale of New York..when I first heard that song I thought, who the hell told him he could sing ? I never got passed the first few drunken stanzas, it was six years before I actually heard the full song..but it has become a iconic tune to represent the festive period.  My favourite Christmas songs will always be those from the seventies, 'So here it is Merry Christmas', and 'I Wish IT Could Be Christmas Every Day', because I was young at that time.  I don't dream of a 'White Christmas' with Bing, it's too American that..and I don't like 'The Drummer Boy', for reasons that I don't wish to explain.  Music is a background in life, sometimes it take up too much time, particularly when you are younger, as you get further down the rung other things snatch that spot.  . more important things like work, and commitments.  I never feel guilty over the money I spend at this period, and the reason being I work too hard all year to feel guility about it.  Do they know it's Christmas ? in Africa ? do they ? well it's not a suprise is it, as far back as I can remember people have been banging the drum for Africa, and it still needing more donations.  What I would like to ask is what did they do with all the money ? is it still sat in a bank in Switerland ?  Why hasn't there been irradication of hunger in the world, why hasn't there been ample clean water in the world ? why have these things not been sorted in the fifty odd years I have been on this planet they still bang the same drum.  I don't feel guilty for eating a big fat Turkey at Christmas, and leaving some of it to throw away.  My mother used to say, " there's children in Africa that would be glad of that ?"  No doubt there is, there are probably children in Britain that would be glad of it too.  I don't want to feel guilty about it, neither do I want to feel guilty about how they treat animals in other countries, or women or bombs.  They pay people in government to do that, they pay them huge sums of money to sit in parliament and talk about it for years on end, probably fifty whole years on end, to sit and debate about these things, then they go out and have a slap up meal, pat each other on the back and go home to their seventh house, the other five been let out in the oppulant South, one with the mistress in and the other tucked in the Sussex downs.  So why make me feel guilty over things I don't have any power over,.when those in power here and abroad turn the other cheek and crack on in their own rat race.  But the children's faces, but the children.  Making them suffer, their own government care not or there would be no thirst nor hunger.  Does God care ? is this his love, what we mankind are heir to, the suffering.  And Bethlehem, oh little town of, on some Palestinian bank being held  randsomn by the Israelites....and it's all man made...and mostly the greed for power and wealth.  If I was God I would begin to wonder if mankind is worthy of my love.  If they shower theirselves in riches that glitter, and steal legally worshiping the false god of money, I would want to sever their cord. .  But I guess he is our Lord and Father, and what he chooses will be.
