Rat Race

The sun blinks her eager eyes
Over the hilltops, cities and skies
Bodies stir, stretch and groan
Watched hours of broken sleep turning bones to stone
The unfortunate frowns of the rat race begin
Everyone's running but nobody wins
Rushing through a life we don't want to end
No time for interruptions from irritated families or lost friends
Appointments dilute memories, we mustn't be late
Accepting this scheduled madness is simply our fate
It's time to slow down, no more rushing aroundÂ
Time to cherish the love that we are allowedÂ
It's time to slow down, another day has passed by
And the sun is closing her saddened eyes
Not one person has looked up today
To feel the warmth of her glow upon their face
It's time to stop

Stop indeed to touch and breathe
Get to know the earth we'll leave
Discover what there is to see
And show the world it's also me
Nice write, thank you kindly
