Raven on the Road
From my Raven Collection

Ā
Ā
He was there right in front of me
he was the first thing I saw
on that particular early morning sunrise
Ā
Raven, standing on the roadĀ
almost as if he was waiting for me
reminding me before my flight
to keep my feet on solid ground, once I arrived
how he knows me so well
Ā
It was a tour of sortsĀ
the ghosts Iād visit in my time on home soilĀ
I did it, I went back in timeĀ
I went down streets of memories
I went back to all that haunted me
I took a good look aroundĀ
I felt their presence Ā
and I felt that terribly dark-colored aura Ā
Ā
Itās taken me fifty years to realize
those ghosts must be left
in the very dust of time
where they belong
where theyāve been laying all these years
after all, I canāt change the past
nobody can
Ā
and if by luck or chanceĀ
I see the Raven when I return home
I shall tell him so.

I love the third stanza. Haunting familiar streets, the trauma left unknown, and to say the truth in those streets as it is I can feel the rain of EnglandĀ
Thank you so much dear Rory, seems there are many who can relate. Thank you dear friend. š¹Ā
