Poem -

Reanimated

Awake, awkward at first, stumbling blindly forward. Too bright to see.

What's this pounding in my chest? Has it been there all along?

Am I ill, or have I always been so warm? What have you done to me?

These wounds, they bleed no more. The pain is gone. Have I died?

This heart, why is it light and whole again? What have you done to me?

The fear of being abused isn't there anymore, my only fear is of you walking away.

What have you done to me?

A beast of ash and blood, why am I suddenly one of beauty?

I was unfeeling, cold, numb. Why are my nerves so alive now?

Fearful, cautious, and instinctively skeptical, why am I now so willing to believe?

What have you done to me?

You brought to life what once was dead, you loved me and I am real. Reanimated.
