Red

Red

Red is all I see when I look at our flag.

I don't see any white.

Nor the blue color of hope anymore.

I see blood.

I see black history.

I see craters,...instead of stars.

I do see the blood of family, brothers and sisters.

I do see the white in my daughter.

And the blue of sadness...

But mostly I see red.Β

Brilliant. I'm in the U.K but my flag is also red white and blue. I can feel the truth of this because, to a lesser degree I see it here every day. My flag in recent years has also been deeply shamed. Anger can be important when coupled to eloquence. I am not sure I can call you by your declared title. Can I call you Don?

Very simple and direct and a powerful truth often not voiced. Β Great job. Β

A lot of red has been shed for that flag you've mentioned, "Q".
As a Marine Corps veteran, I've spilled a little myself in my time.
We had a favorite saying in my platoon that I believe is still used today in some circles.
"These Colors Don't Run." The colors we were referring to were the Red, White & Blue.
"United We Stand, Divided We Fall"
is another. If we don't stick together as Americans, we'll soon go the way of the Roman and Egyptian Empires.
Nicely penned.

Thank you Dean for searving our Country, and your comment as this was a difficult subject to write. I also took the same oath as you and served with pride as did many of my family.

We didn't run,...but we did bleed.

Thank you for serving as well, "Q".
Yes, we did bleed , and we bled red. The key was getting them to bleed more than we were.
Take care and best of luck.

My Dear Q,

Our flag mirrors the color of my eyes
Only one, the shade of red
Their blue tears fall for all hope lost
They e'er weep for loves no longer here
Yet in them, still is a white glimmer of hope
For my Beloved Daughter

Love,
Larry xxxΒ
