RED BALLOONS

What hope be there, she lets it go
She sets it free
To god knows where, and
God knows where
Those wishes rise
On red balloons
Towards the skies
His skies she thinks,
She sends him love
She sends red hearts to all above
Her feet

Superb childlike wonder brimming throughout Marion and perfectly and beautifully capturing a child's innocent mind- set as well.
On a different level a poem of hope and just the tonic needed in today's modern society.
I'm wishing you well Marion and back later in this week to really catch up, but in the meantime thank you for writing something that touches base and the child in us all. x.
Hi Shaun...thankyou for reading. Yes I think most people interpretate this iconic image to mean hope...hugs x
Marion of course there's that other interpretation also and that's where my head is at lately, sorting things out.
Also if you have the time check out a poet called Mike Jenkins from
Aberystwyth who taught kids in Merthyr and he has deservedly won a few awards and honours here and there, for he also writes amazing poetry in the same vein and class as you.
For your writing deserves to published for a wider audience to enjoy and to be captivated by.
Hope this message finds you and finds you well my friend and will be back in a few days to read more and catch up and with others also.
Nos da for now Marion. x.
Aw Shaun that's lovely. I hope you are OK my friend. I certainly will check out Mike Jenkins ...thankyou for bringing him to my attention...hugs x
I sensed it a little different, more symbolic for sending a loved one in heaven some love, the balloons being red for symbolism for the heart as it transfers a the love upwards to those/ that special one. Beautiful poem yet again Marion .
Thanks Rob...it is both. The image is outstanding in itself but it also has a special poignancy for our family too. Thankyou love x
Your mighty welcome. Xoxo Rob
This first verse is beautifully written in a conversational tone that, combined with the use of rhyme ( rise and skies) nails it right home in the readersreadersTjis is stellar work. I have to agree with Rob with the Heaven/love/ message thing. I think the red balloons theme also lend a subtle naivety to the piece. Red balloons say it all. I absolutely love this poem Marion x
Thanks so much love. This particular Banksy painting has become extremely special to us in the last few years. What an artist and an enigma that man? is...xx
I love Banksy's work. And this girl and red balloon is iconic isn't it? Xx
He did one in Taibach near me a few years ago on an old garage wall...it caused a stir!! Xx
Oh I bet...lucky you!! Xx
Banksy would be proud of ya .. I am .. be sure of it .. Those red balloons say it all & then some .. N x
Isn't he amazing? He did a painting in Taibach, Port Talbot a few years ago caused a massive fuss. This is my daughters, it stands 5 foot high. On a personal note the image is extremely special to us in recent years. Thanks Neville x
He is amazing .. my blood brother Stephen 'Havoc' Hewitt who sadly passed in 2014 (see obituary in the Guardian) was given an A4 sized framed Banksy painting by the guy himself .. I know that might be hard to believe, but it is absolutely true ..................... x
P.S I think I can understand why that image is special, other than the fact, it is special .................. x
Wow that's amazing Neville...be worth a fortune!!! Sorry about your friend x
Beautiful words…
Thanks so much John x
Wonderful poem
Thanks x
You are so welcome 🙏
