Poem -

Red Riding Hood

Moonlight dissolves
into the hallowed branches
of the trees around me.
The fog of my breath
freezes from the force of the wind.
Midnight settles upon the frost.
I pull my crimson hood close
to the paleness of my neck.
My heart races from the bitter cold
with adrenaline coursing
through my veins.
The beast awaits me
with eyes void of light
and it howls into the full moon.
Baring its teeth, I gain my strength
and hold my Father’s sword before me.
One move and I will finish him
and survive this winter’s night.
