Reflections

As I look in the mirror.

I see this woman starring back at me.

Her eyes filled with emptiness and resentment.

As voices of insults fill her head.

"You fat good for nothing bitch."

Everyday she tries hard to prove herself, small victories and successes.

Still a struggle wages within.

Clouded by doubt, low self esteem and fear.

She stares at the image and asks can love dwell here.

Failed expectations, failed marriage, and failed dreams.

Where is the calm after the storm?

Tears streaming down her face, struggling to find herself in the image she sees.

Looking past envy, pity and disgust.

She opens herself to chance.

How does she look past revenge?

This pain which has been bottled up.

The tears continue to flow down her cheeks, fixed on the image she sees.

Fighting to regain her composure, telling herself to push past the pain.
