Reflections of Equality

Staring down into a cool pool of water I see their reflections.
A dozen or more beautiful faces all taking different directions.
Their hopes, worries, dreams and fears a mirror in my own eyes.
My thoughts wonder, tripping over each of their lives.
A mother reading to her child sweet lullaby’s,
another incarcerated for telling to many lies..
A nervous teenage girl with innocents to lose,
another searching for the answers to life’s big clues.
A woman gaining confidence against all the pain,
another fighting still to keep herself sane.
A haughty woman dressed all in Louis Vuitton,
another worried about running a successful con.
So many paths, so much to feel. I wonder if I am those faces.
Each one coming from such different places.
All of them unique in size and color,
from young to old, daughter and mother.
My questions are answered in each of their eyes,
for there are no secret womanly lies.
I reside with in them and they reside in me.
Its through each others eyes that we understand equality.
