Poem -

Refugees

My life was great

My family and me rejoicingΒ in glee almost every day.

Walking down the street, going to see my friends, as I do freely.

Living in my beautiful country, I wouldn't have it any other way

It's what I used to think.

Refugees, yep that's me.

The one that don't belong in anyone else's countries.

Pushed out of my home,Β

Shipped away.

I had hoped I wouldn't see this day.

War.

War.

War.

War pushed me out of my home.

Nowhere to go

now I'm all alone

Mum and dad killed before my eyes

Brother and sister, lost somewhere in the ocean.

Buckets of my tears hanging on my shoulder.

Fighting for my life,Β

Or I'm gonna die.

No one cares for me,Β

No one cares if I die.

What's so wrong with refugees?

I'm Human, we're all human.Β

You and me.

So what's so bad about refugees?

Kicked out of my home, it's not my fault.

I'm human!

We're humans.

So why are we acting like animals?

I don't know where I'm going.

But when I get there.

I'm still a refugee, I'm still me.

Living the life of any other refugee.

A life where no one wants to save me.
