Rely

And I can't quite grasp

all the reasons behind this overwhelming sadness,

or why it's like a constant ringing in the back of my mind

that just wont go away.

How it can come at the most peaceful of times,

bringing a whirlwind of feelings and thoughts

that I never even knew I had

and leave a path of scattered memories and tears

when it finally disappears.

And I'll never quite understand

why there's a certain comfort in the familiar sadness

that never really leaves.

At least I know

I can always rely on it to check up on me when no one else can.
