Throw the match down my throat
Blast away the dross of this kiln

Polish the brass with sand
Scrub the soot with your spittled hand

Peel back plastic layers of film

Rinse the dust off with pristine droplets
Shine the surface with sacred oil

Etch deep groves to make it branded:
a class design to custom standard

Take this ghetto life of mine
and make it something royal

What an interesting poem. I like how you used art and the job of creating art to create a poem. I found myself wanting to continue reading. Have you ever thought about taking this short poem and adding more to it? Just a thought. I liked the imagery and descriptions used. The last two lines were very powerful. "ghetto life" I can imagine this life because I have lived in poverty, homeless and hungry many times in life. Thanks for sharing your poem.
