REMEMBERED TOO LATE

Minding my own business on a city centre street
When an unknown stranger I happened to meet
He seemed to know me and mentioned my name
My mind was thinking is this just part of a gameĀ

I looked at him closely and still alas had no clueĀ
Who was this stranger who came out of the blue
He asked if my family were keeping safe and well
Still no idea who he was and going through hellĀ

Work colleague perhaps or an old school mateĀ
I politely said goodbye for fear of being lateĀ
Needless to say I remembered him going to bed
Seen lots of people in my life it has to be said
