REMEMBERED TOO LATE

Minding my own business on a city centre street
When an unknown stranger I happened to meet
He seemed to know me and mentioned my name
My mind was thinking is this just part of a game

I looked at him closely and still alas had no clue
Who was this stranger who came out of the blue
He asked if my family were keeping safe and well
Still no idea who he was and going through hell

Work colleague perhaps or an old school mate
I politely said goodbye for fear of being late
Needless to say I remembered him going to bed
Seen lots of people in my life it has to be said
