Repaying Loyalty?

Repaying Loyalty?

i'm limping down the street

i whimper in agony

i have sores on my feet

my heart has no harmony

you all walk by

ignoring my pain

you listen to me cry

yet you call yourselves sane

i stare at you with sorrowful eyes

hunger leads me to sit

my body surrounded by flies

but you turn and say 'Look at it!'

after all my loyalty

i can't help being mad

never have i seen such cruelty

i'd be better off dead

think of me, even for a moment

smelly and homeless

all my pain and torment

life has become pointless

i rise weakly from the ground

though poor i'm still bold

i stumble down the street without a sound

a lonely dog in the cold!
