RITUALS...A poem from Jude kyrie

rituals

I once knew an artist
He was a painter of landscapes.
Each morning when the light
From the cool north lit his studio.
He would look at a competed
Work and make a tiny revision.
A touch of vermilion on a petal.
A deeper green on a blade of grass.
It was as though this ritual
Told his creation that he cared for it.
Even though it would sold.
He still,loved it
and it was really his.
Even after all the years
we have been together my love.
I find that I have a habit
Perhaps a ritual like the artist.
When I leave you in the mornings.
To go to work.
I kiss you a quick
Goodbye honey.
Then I touch a careless
lock of your hair.
And fold it back
from your forehead.
back in place.
Like a mother's finishing
touch to her child.
More as a sentiment of my love
Letting you know that you
still belong to me.
And that my small ritual of revision
Is the deepest form of affection.
