On the road to happiness

On the road to happiness,

I picked up grief and pain,

felt tears falling in the pouring rain,

I met anger and frustration,

I met anxiety and desperation,

I got acquainted with fear,

I kept them all very near,

But as I was getting closer

to getting there,

I concentrated on feeling elated,

letting my good mood appear,

thinking about every memory,

every moment I held dear,

clingling to the notion that I can achieve,

all of the happiness that I may ever need!
