Road to Oblivion

I remember your goodbye so well

Last words written on an envelope,

What is going through your mind  during your last moments of life,

All the years you were hard on me, I felt so desolate and lost,

I wanted your love and kindness,

Half parents can be the cruelest in the world at times

Why raise another person’s child,

What goes through the human psyche at the brink of passing on,

A change of feelings and denial for acting out all those years,

So long it took to forgive and to move on, I know....

I know you loved me in your own way,

A mother’s love is strong,

To be strong enough for roll of father and mother?

I will always remember you as Pop, and I am not angry nor

do I hold resentment, for man can be the cruelest of his kind on the planet,

Till we meet again on the other side,.
