Poem -

Romeo

  • Where for art thou, Romeo?
    Upon the tangled wall
    Of the sun stained beach?
Chasing the clouds on your delicate
    China legs.
Or maybe breaking the spiderwebs of light
    On the woodland floor?
    A pretty shadow,
    A ghost of the dawn.
    Or has your nose
    Found a hare?
    And has you speeding lightly
    To fields afar,
Lithe body unfurling like an arrow.
    Or when I come home
From the wind and rain of life,
Will you be there with your ready welcome
    Sparkling
    In your amber gilded eyes?
For I fear you have gone away
To rest, a bright glowing ember,
    In our dreams,
Leaving us the lonely ragged moors
    And our silver
    Scattered on the heath.
