Poem -

The Rose

And that is how it ended

Just as quick as it began

With a brazen look

And a rose within the hand

The rose once red and blooming

Now begins to fade

The petals droop and wilt

As the color fades away

And like the rose herself

Our time is drawing near

Our love is everlasting

But our future is not clear

And as the rose begins to fade

A sudden death it sees

A foreshadowing of events

Paints a tangible picture of me

Love that stands the test of time

Must stand the test of lies

My love will weather follies

But I shall not compromise

A promise is but words

Uttered to seem fact

But just as the rose herself

True life it seems to lack

Our time is now to move

Our eyes we must unlock

You cannot make a choice

So I will turn to walk

And that is how it ended

Just as quick as it began

With a despairing glance

A dead rose falls from within my hand
