A ROSE

A ROSE                 TIM WILLIAMS                 AUGUST  2015

I'LL THROW YOU A ROSE, A RED ROSE,
WITH A KISS ATTACHED FROM ME TO YOU,
LIFE'S TIDE BROUGHT YOU TO ME,
TO THE SEA I BLOW A KISS OF ETERNAL GRATITUDE,
I BREATH IN YOUR PERFUME, YOU INTOXICATE ME,
I OWE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING
A GREAT DEBT FOR YOU AND YOUR LOVE,
IT IS A DEBT I CAN NEVER AFFORD TO RE-PAY,
FOR IT IS TOO GREAT A SUM,
ALL I CAN DO IS SAY A HUMBLED THANK YOU
FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART, FROM THE EPICENTRE OF MY SOUL,
AND BE THANKFUL FOR ALL THE LOVE YOU HAVE BESTOWED
UPON ME.
