A Rose In the Snow

A young child was playing in the snow,
Enjoying the wonders of life,
Until a rose was spotted where the bushes grow.
All white,
This rose was pristine,
It was more beautiful than anything the child had ever seen.
It was a rose that had lived through the seasons,
The child was enthralled,
And for good reason.
So the young one went into retrieve it,
Got pricked by its thorns,
But was able to achieve it.
Now bright red blood slowly trickles onto its petals,
Forever staining the rose,
Killing what once made it so special.
The rose only needed appreciation,
Now it's been tainted,
Killed by possession.
It now remains a memory,
Withered and faded.

Felicia-
I thought this was such a unique write, though I wished she would not have picked the rose, the fact that she was so enticed by it, I probably would have picked it also! lol
This had a real twist to it, just as Chris stated, and I could see the whole thing happening as I read it!!!
LOVED IT!!!!!!

Thank you William :)
nice one congrats x
thanks Susan! :)
I love the message and the reasoning behind this poem Felicia,
A beautifully sorrowful stanza! I took it that the rose was more of a symbol than an actual flower that has withered. Great tale and a wonderful ending, nicely penned! A vote from me :)
Yes the rose is a symbol:) Thank you for reading my poem! I am happy you liked it:)
