SAFE HAVEN

I need a safe haven for my longing soul
Somewhere the secrets of my heart can unfold.
A light in the dark to guide me out of this hole,
Laughter, an embrace, shelter from the cold.
A collection of unfulfilled wishes is what I own,
For misplaced hope and regrets I cry alone.
No answer forthcoming in this place so forlorn
No planned direction – this path I sojourn,
Nowhere to rest or safe place to hide,
No friend’s dwelling, in which I can abide.
Now I stand at the water’s receding edge
And say a prayer – make my final pledge.
See, the tide returns to formally escort me,
Yes, I shall walk the waves into eternity!
Ankle, knee, waist, breast, and chin…
The arms of the sea welcome me within.

Hello Valerie, I like these two wordsÂ
"safe haven";Â
i wish you the peace you seek, forÂ
this is the universal peace,Â
have you read Kahlil Gibran?
Kind regards
JaiÂ
Hi Jai…thanks for your comments  but the poem isn't about me.  I was watching a show on teenage suicide and this is the result.  Yes, I have read Kahlil Gibran. Â

Thanks so much Angel! Yes, we all go through those bouts of regret and woulda, coulda, shouda, but thank God…we snap out of it and press for a higher mark!

Keondra…I wondered the same thing!  It is more than an emptiness of the soul it is a desolation, a ruin… everything has been erased.  I wrote this poem after watching a documentary on bullying.  Several teenagers committed suicide.  Thanks so much for your comments.
