Safety in numbers

Safety in numbers

Tony worked at the pit,
In the lamp cabin..
in the sixties..
He was ' special'
probably the first autistic
boy we ever knew..
He had a fascination
for numbers..thus the
mens pit tallies were his
Work..
They laughed at Tony ..
He liked to dance like
a mad head...to Northern
Soul...banging out a tune,
But nobody would see him
bad done to..
They looked after that lad,
Like men would do...
He got hit by a car..
and died quite young..
There was never a lamp cabin
Lad to replace his enthusiasm..
What a charmed life he had..
