Saint Switthin’s day ☔️

Running like a river, rain tumbled from the sombre sky
I had never, ever seen such dark grey clouds passing by
As black as sable slate and so dreary to my eye
Was good old Mother nature in a bad mood, was this the reason why ?
~
Well it teamed and it poured from July the fifteenth
Each and every day was wet, I lost count on the umteenth
But then again it had started on Saint Swithin’s day
And we all know too well what those old wives did say!!
~
Huh it didn’t seem like summertime at all
As all the land was saturated from the heavy rain fall
And worrisome floods crept right up to my garden wall
Mind you it didn’t last for forty days and nights but it was a very close call !!!
