FOR THE SAKE OF LOVE

I too can speak about love
Its flights and heights
The rugged paths and starry nights
It's healing and regrets
The sleepless nights I try to forget.
Love kept me up late at night
Pacing the floor
Wondering if you were alright
Staring into the darkness
Hoping to get a glimpse of your face
The love of my heart that had become faceless.
I too can speak about love
How it's gripping claws tore my gentle heart
The same heart you fell in love with at the start
The one I gave so freely being satisfied
With your parted lips simply saying you loved me.
Is it a surprise that a man could love this way
Enduring the stench of infidelity and unfaithfulness
Having to dwell among friends with his head bowed down
Being a laughing stock and the talk of the town.
Come on... Give me a break
Yes it was love and not a mistake
And even though you slay me
Yet will I trust you
And wherever you may be
Just know that I am still madly and deeply
In love with you.
I too can speak about love
Because love speaks of me.
