Poem -

Sapphire and the Druid

The earth beneath my broken feet

Cries out and begs for quarter

Where men replaced the ice and heat

Of nature, with road over winding street

The children wander, aimless

My hand and heart would reach for you

In hope of salvaging the blue

The noble hue, of eyes so true

To pull me to the surface

And I hear the thump of shaman drums

And the call of all the forests

And the wolf the holy man becomes

To the blind man's actions, protests

And I am here, threescore and five

And my hair is ashen grey

But the silence of hills and valleys thrive

Beneath the fading day

And your words remain within my mind

Like lichens on the tree bark

Like the warmth of deeds both fair and kind

Despite descending daylight's dark.
