scarlet ribbons

scarlet ribbons

they made such ribbons
out of long dead smiles
the scarlet lips joined
end to end
they flung them far
for miles and miles
for scarlet ribbons
can but rise

up and up and out beyond
to band the golden liquid skies
and so a dawn and dusk were
born
to pretty up the eve and morn

with lips of blush and rosy hue,
with smiles of crimson... cherry too
in long dead smiles to grace the
skies
for scarlet ribbons can but rise
