SEAHORSES

SEAHORSES

You gave me a blanket
You knitted it warm
I sheltered beneath it
Away from the storm

You sang me a sweet song
To drown out the roar
You kept out the wind
With your back to the door

You stroked my hair gently
With a brush made of love
You put in a ribbon
Made from rainbows above

You gave the moon to me
And taught me to run
You taught me to fly high
To seek out the sun

You gave me a seahorse
Made of jade scented soap
The perfume surrounds me
When I run short of hope

And I still have the blanket
The ribbon and brush
Now I hold my own door shut
In the winds mighty rush

And I want you to know
That though you have gone
I still hold the moon
And I still sing your song
