SEAN THE PRAWN

He started his life swimming in the sea
Happy and contented was he
Sean the prawn had another fish for a chum
They didn't notice when the fisherman come
On a boat the fisherman hunted for the fish
The rich man wanted them for a tasty dish
Sean the prawn would no longer swim
The rich man held no regard to him
In the net Sean the prawn would end
No escape for him or his fishy friend
Their lives ended on a rich man's plate
A tragic end for him and his fish mate

I would really like the inspiration behind this well constructed, fish tale. It seemed like an ordinary, fish story but I think there is a hidden meaning. I'm getting hooked on reading your poetry. Nice work.
We didn't go fishing once last year, mainly because I felt bad for the fish. I became too "soft" worrying if I would hook a fish's eye out, then throw him back into the water injured. I stopped fishing. Course I still eat them.
Hi Katina
First of all may you and yours have a peaceful and happy New year.
Secondly thank you for all the positive feedback you leave on my poetry.
Thirdly the inspiration was a Instagram picture of a fish swimming happily one minute and then disaster...
Ahhhhh thats where you go
My Dear Kieran,
Your poem made Linda and me a little sad, and feeling guilty about ever having a shrimp cocktail again.
Many years ago, I saw a black and white short movie, about an obese man, fishing on the beach of an ocean. He had a large box filled with candy, which he would shove a piece of into his mouth quite often. Meanwhile, the pile of poor fish he was catching, kept getting higher and higher. The last scene, was him taking another piece of candy, and a hook ripping through his mouth, with him being dragged out to sea. I never forgot this phenomenal epic.
Love,
Larry xxx
