Poem -

Secrets

"What she doesn't know won't kill her"
Yet she's already dying
Maybe the words unspoken cut deeper
Is never saying anything actually lying?

Because for everything you say there are ten stories never revealed
Does it help anyone to keep things hidden?
Who are you saving by keeping the truth sealed?
You're teaching me that being an open book is forbidden

Your mouth says one thing but your eyes say another
I wait patiently for the day that they will say the same
But it always seems to be one or the other
Is letting go so much worse than the constant lies you proclaim?

It looks like your secret was whispered in the wrong direction
The oblivion of the wrong person was cleared
You say this is all for my own protection
But it seems that yours is the only one you feared
