See Level

See Level

The oceans stroke was steady, smooth and constant.

Was it there?

As cautious child,
I was feeling the waves,
With nothing
but my stare.

And as I got to know myself,
My fingers skimmed the tide.

Wasn't long before my arms were in,
I was becoming the skylines bride.

My nose, my cheeks, my eyes pushed down,
Til I was beaming blue.

And it took just but a second
Until down to the depths, I flew.

I listened to a vortex vent,
I slow-danced with a stream.
I urbanized an undertow
With a mermaids finest dreams.

And upon a humpback whale
I watched
Sails and seagulls
in the sky.

Til I was carried by a current,
As the seabed waved goodbye.

For months I floated on the threshold
Between the wind and wave.

Sailors whispered to the pirates: "her sanity,
we must save!"

For years,
Resisting their attempts to pluck me from the water,

I spent most days Alone, Withdrawn,
and Pensive,
Underwater.

I searched around,
But only found
He
who marveled at the surface.

Who saw the door to my soul,
To the sea,
As a door with no great purpose.

But then I met a curious man;
He was surfing with the wind.

So I pulled him round,
Flipped him upside down,
Soon the space between us thinned.

Before I could guess,
If he danced with depth,
He was far beneath the surface.

And as we swam deep,
Not one thought did we keep,
Til we conjured a nautical circus.

My venting vortex partnered with
His rollicking riptide.

My soulful stream
Wrapped in between
His sauntering seaside.

My undertow, else urbanized
 By a mermans lofty goals.

And my humpback whale, now verbalized
By his deciphered sea-talk scrolls.

He called for us, to sail-gaze
Upon his bumpy back.
And Spoke to us,
As he raised
Up
To put us back on track.

"You two have grown rare gills together.
And explored each other's sea.

A locked threshold between wind and water,

And you two are the key."
