Seeking Freedom

Seeking Freedom

“Pterodactyls are extinct”, she said
But that’s what I want to be
I want to be that

“You can’t”, they said
But that’s what I will be
I will be that

“Impossible!” He shouted
But that’s what I am
I am that

Flapping my reptoid wings,
I took flight

But it was awkward
My head was kind of goofy
With its protruding shape

Everyone laughed
I lost concentration

“See,” they said
“Pterodactyls are redundant.
Just give up.”

I can’t give up even if
I have to be a futuristic one
Different form you know

Same essential components
I am still a reptoid flying thing
Just not a classical model

Besides, who cares what’s
Thought upon the ground
I straddle the winds of change
