I could do more
and I could be better
water running down my throat
getting wetter and wetter.

The pressure rising
feeling the power to do more
I just have to do better,
more than before.

As soon as storm turns to clouds
you will be missed,
out of our minds.

the floor I was standing on was caving,
there was nothing below.

chose the wrong path,
took the road of friendship
over the one of love.

trusted a friend – a foe,
should’ve gone with my family,
up and above.

Reaching the top
running out of time
the third in the middle
at the end of the line.

Last on the top
first in the hug
shoes are dirty
we walked through mud.

Seeing the light
we turned and turned
being on both sides
is something we yearned.

Headed back to the house
we stayed behind
running in the rain
teardrops were not kind.

I’ve had ups and downs
but so have you
that doesn’t make it
in any way less true.

I’ve fought throughout
pain and fear
just so you
wouldn’t disappear.

I’ve hated and loved
and hated some more
but after all that has happened
I walked through the door.

Touched you on the shoulder,
you looked behind,
saying nothing,
whispering a little lie.

Touched you on the shoulder,
you kept looking in front,
not minding my presence,
not minding a word.
