This darkness that has followed me,

And consumed my heart for years.

Has kept myself from loving me,

And always drowning in my own tears.

I did not love myself at all,

And didn't care to even try.

I felt no worth or self-esteem,

And I always wondered why.

Too scared that I would fail again,

And fall right on my face.

I figured I'd be better off,

Without loves "sweet embrace".

Shield myself from all the pain,

That love has made me feel.

Dismissing thoughts of love at all,

Cuz true love wasn't real.

Until the day you came along,

True love...I never knew.

What used to be an empty space,

Is now filled up by you.

I cannot begin to give you thanks,

For what you've done for me.

You've taken all this pathetic mess,

And have finally set me free!!!
