SHAKE

SHAKE

The ground moved for me, but
It was not from love-makeing
Though it did make me heady
My legs were unsteady,but no
It was the earth that was quakeing.

The walls came tumbleing down
And I was not there in Jericho
Though there was sand all around
I was hugging the ground
And time, went very slow.

No, and it was not very funny
Certain things started going runny
And well, life was starting to flash
Through the dust and the grit
From the mouth trying to spit
Eyes trying to find where to dash.

Suddenly silence
Except for a collaboative gasp
And a rescuer's hand
My arm it did grasp
Then pulled me, from liquidfaction
From this, one has to admire
Through smoke or indeed fire,
Unhurt others', quick action.
