Shattered Dreams

I wanted what I never had and had what I didn't wantĀ
I had so many aspirations, my life they all did hauntĀ
I had a dream that one day I'd become a movie starĀ
The dream seemed very present, but the goal to reach, so farĀ
I also hoped, one day, to be an outer-space astronautĀ
It wasn't like a dream, at all, just a brief and passing thoughtĀ
I had so many hopeless dreams my life seemed like a sieveĀ
My hopes were poured in, then drained out, no promise did they giveĀ
Shattered dreams are like the wind blowing in the nightĀ
They can't be seen and they fade away, transparent to the sightĀ
Shattered dreams are like the sand covering the shoreĀ
You build your castle, then the tide rolls in and your castle is no moreĀ
Shattered dreams leave hopeless lives, so many of us thinkĀ
Shattered dreams are like a chain with a missing linkĀ
I'd like to tell you there is hope to fill this empty spaceĀ
It may not seem like much to some, but it can save the human raceĀ
Look to God to find the place He has for you in lifeĀ
When you're discouraged ask the LORD to help you through your strifeĀ
Ask the LORD to take you past what you think you can beĀ
Offer up your shattered dreams and new hope you'll receiveĀ
Give your life to Jesus Christ because He cares for youĀ
And some of those shattered dreams you've had may possibly come trueĀ

This really touched a place in my heart, where I struggle with having a dream or a purpose. It's a wonderful well written poem! Thank you!
