Poem -

SHE STAYED

What I am writing about here needs no introduction
An epic disaster with such devastating destruction
Happened in August back in the year of 2005
1800 poor souls didn't make it out alive

Devastating scenes and enormous chaos ensued
Hurricane Katrina had left New Orleans subdued
Despite it all heroic stories began to take place
Inspiring enough to brighten the most unhappy face

Take for example the Doctor who decided to remain
Most of us would think them foolhardy and insane
She would try to treat the ill, sick and the lame
A modern day heroine should be her tag and name

All that damage all around her and she stayed
Such bravery was shown never appeared afraid
People like this Doctor don't do it for praise
Someone we should remember forever and always
