Shotgun Wedding

He stands at his shotgun wedding with his blushing bride by his side
and yes she is nine months with a bump but her Mother won’t confide
“You make your bed you lie in it” that’s what this lass has always heard so she said yes as soon as this dimwit asked her and never spoke another word
She told him she was having his bairn, he was soon to be a Dad
But little did this sucker know it belonged to another lad

So folks joined them in the registry office, they all had a lovely day
They didn’t bother with a honeymoon coz she is in the family way
Well a few months is down the line and the two of them are getting to know each other
Mind you he doesn’t see that much of her coz she is always out with her Mother
Baby Terrence was born two weeks after they wed and he’s a good little lad he only cries when he wants fed
He’s such a bonny baby but he’s nothing like his Dad 
Yet Billy isn’t bothered coz hes the best thing hes ever had

His wife Wendy has got herself a good man 
Billy pays for everything and looks after Terrence when he can
He works all hours that God sends 
Infact 24/7 even on weekends
So the three of them seem to be getting on fine
Aslong as Billy doesn’t hear the truth somewhere further down the line
Yet as the months roll on and years go by
Terrence is his Father’s pride and joy
and the apple of his eye
